The cut

measured

Shot sizes

measured

How tightly the film frames people, from the height of the largest face in each shot. A shot with no face in it has no size, so the share that could not be measured is stated rather than filled in.

Light and colour

measured

Brightness is the average of each frame, colour its saturation. Both are what the finished picture measures, not how it was lit: a lamp is not something an average can see.

How many in frame

measured

Counted, not judged: how many faces were found in each shot. A face is not a person, so a figure turned away, far off or in the dark is one this cannot see, and shots where it found nobody are reported as that rather than as empty frames.

Who shares the frame

measured

Two characters are linked when they appear in the same shot, and the line thickens the more shots they share. Press play to watch it build as the film runs.
